· Exclusively women college of repute existing for last 33 years.

  • College is covered under 2 (f) and 12 (B) of UGC Act and affiliated to Shivaji University, Kolhapur.

· The college of FIRST CHOICE for women in the region.

2.1 Curricular Aspects:

 

2.1.1 Curricular Planning and Implementation:

  • Curriculum is designed by Shivaji University and implemented by college.
  • Curriculum offered is in aligning with the vision and mission of the college.

· Curriculum goals are implemented through classroom teaching and co-curricular activities.

 

2.1.2 Academic Flexibility:

  • The college offers UG , PG,Diploma and certificate courses Of Shivaji University.
  • Vide options are available for students.
  • A few distance mode courses of YCMOU Nasik are available on campus.

2.1.3 Curriculum Enrichment:

· Curriculum is periodically revised by affiliated University.

· Faculty participates in enrichment of curriculum.

  • 11 (61.11%) faculty members are on BOS of University.

· Feedback mechanism is in place .

  • Feedback analysis is used for enrichment of curriculum. Feedback from industries is taken on curriculum.
  • On line feedback system without human interference is also introduced.

2.2 Teaching-Learning & Evaluation:

 

2.2.1 Student Enrolment and Profile:

  • Adequate publicity is given to admission notice through print media, college prospectus, notice board and website.

· Admission policy of the university and state government is adhered to.

· Merit in Sports, NCC and extracurricular activities is considered while giving admissions.

 

2.2.2 Catering to Student Diversity:

 

  • Remedial classes are arranged for slow learners and needs of advanced students are catered.
  • One day orientation program is arranged for fresher.
  • Differently-abled students are given due care and attention.

 

2.2.3 Teaching-Learning Process:

 

· The college frames an academic calendar in line with the university.

  • Student centric teaching-learning encouraged through special lectures, student presentations and seminars.
  • ICT enabled teaching is available.
  • Academic Audit is conducted.

2.2.4 Teacher Quality:

· The college appoints teachers following the state government and university guidelines.

· Out of 18 permanent teachers 11 are PhD (61%) , 04 are M. Phil. and 02 have cleared NET/SET.

· 18 Best Teacher Awards have been obtained by faculty members during 2012-13 to 2016-17

· 40 Enrichment programs have been attended by faculty.

2.2.5 Evaluation Process and

Reforms:

 

 

 

· Evaluation process is cleared to faculty and students in advance.

· College follows the Continuous Internal Assessment system along with semester end examination.

  • Student performance in examinations is reviewed and discussed.

2.2.6 Student Performance and Learning Outcomes:

· University passing performance is excellent between 94 to 100%.

  • 16 students have obtained University ranks.
  • Learning outcomes are clearly defined.

 

2.3 Research, Consultancy

& Extension:

 

2.3.1 Promotion of Research:

  • Research Committee is in place.
  • Faculty is encouraged for PhD, M. Phil and for funded minor and major research projects.
  • Workshops on research related issues are conducted regularly involving faculty and students.
  • UG-PG students are encouraged to participate in research activity.
  • Incentive is given for research contributions of faculty and students.

2.3.2 Resource Mobilization for

Research:

  • One UGC funded Major project and 04 minor projects have been completed.
  • One major and 07 minor projects costing 7.20 lakh are on going.
  • Seed money Rs. 80000/- for faculty research and Rs.1,00,000/- for student projects are earmarked.

  • Adequate Library facilities and internet connectivity is made available for research.
  • 07 laboratories are available for faculty and student research.
  • 08 recognized PhD- M.Phil guides are available in college.

2.3.4 Research Publications and

Awards :

  • 257 Publications by faculty in reputed journal with a average of 14.27 per faculty.
  • 03 books , 05 edited books,43 chapters in different books by faculty.
  • 05 faculty members have received 07 awards for research.

2.3.5 Consultancy:

 

 

  • Consultancy is provided in six areas revenue of Rs. 5850 is generated.
  • Revenue generated from consultancy is diverted to Students aids fund.
  • Consultancy needs augmentation.

2.3.6 Extension Activities and Institutional Social Responsibility:

 

· Extension activities are carried out through NSS, NCC , various committees and clubs.

  • College undertakes activities like social survey, village camp, blood donation, awareness programs on different issues, as to cleanliness, environment protection, health and hygine etc.
  • College has organized 54 extension and outreach programs on important themes in collaboration with NGOs and industries.
  • 05 NCC cadets have been selected for RD Parade, 51 cadets participated in National level camps and 21cadets in state level camps.

2.3.7 :Collaborations:

 

 

· College has 09 formal collaborations with MOUs for different purposes.

· Collaborations need augmentation.

2.4 Infrastructure and Learning Resources:

 

 

2.4.1 Physical Facilities:

 

 

· The college is spread over 48,562.28 sq.mts with a built up area of 3699.27 sq. meters.

  • 23 classrooms,, well equipped 0 7 laboratories, o1seminar hall ,auditorium with 750 capacity, separate space for Admin section ,Principal Chamber, NCC,NSS ,NAAC office, and adequate washrooms for faculty and students are available on campus.
  • Indoor and outdoor game facilities, gymnasium and well equipped health club and a canteen is available on campus.
  • College has hostel facility for 150 girls.
  • During review period 2.33 crores have been expended on infrastructure development.

2.4.2 Library as a Learning

Resource:

 

 

· The library space is 326.23 sq.mts. with a study room of 150 seating capacity.

· 55278 books, 68 periodicals and 51000 e-journals and 21000 E- books are available for students and faculty under N-List INFLIBNET.

· Library is computerized with Lotus software and digitization is initiated.

· 08 computers with internet connectivity are available in library.

· Inter library Loan facility is available with five libraries of nearby colleges.

2.4.3 IT Infrastructure:

 

· College is equipped with 95 computers with a few licensed software and internet facility is available on 68 computers.

· 14- e-class rooms ,01computer labs,01 language lab, 01 digital lab for teaching learning .

  • Computer –student ratio is 1:13.
  • Wifi facility is available.

· The college has a designated budget provision for campus maintenance.

· Most of the computers and other equipments are functional under AMC.

  • Campus is well maintained, clean and lush green.

2.5.1 Student Mentoring and

Support:

 

· All government scholarships are available for students belonging to SC, ST, OBC and SBC etc.

· NCC Scholarships are available to a few NCC cadets and merit scholarships are given by college..

· Book bank scheme is available for students.

· Remedial classes are conducted and Mentoring system is in practice.

  • Placement support ( 12.56 %) counseling facility is available in the college.

  • Student progression is monitored by the college.
  • University level passing performance is excellent in the range of 94% to 100%.
  • Students progression to higher education is 42%,

· College students have participated in 15 events at University, Inter University, National and International level.

· Campus is vibrant on account of cultural activities 92% of the students take part in extracurricular activities and have bagged the prizes.

  • Main source of finance is state government funding.
  • Financial audit is conducted regularly by qualified auditors.
  • The college needs to go for more UGC grants for research and grants for conducting seminars/conferences.

  • College with Potential for Excellence status accorded by UGC.
  • College is funded by State Government and covered under 2(f) and 12(B) of UGC Act.
  • Eco friendly huge campus with good infrastructure and space for further development.
  • Well qualified, committed staff and supportive management.

· Students are from poor economic background and weak in communication in English.

  • Science discipline is not initiated.
  • Government hesitates to fill in vacant teaching and non-teaching posts.
  • Needs formal MOUs for research and faculty development with national level institutions.
  • Weak in Consultancy activities and collaborations.

3.3 Institutional Opportunities:

 

 

 

 

· Harness more funds through different schemes offered by the UGC/RUSA and other funding agencies.

· Strengthen placement, consultancy and entrepreneurship development activities.

Section V : Recommendations for Quality Enhancement of the Institution

 

  • Faculty be encouraged to go for more minor and major research projects funded by UGC/ICSSR etc .
  • Infrastructural facilities and laboratories to be upgraded with latest equipment's.
  • More thrust on IT in teaching-learning be given.
  • Collaborations with formal MOUs with reputed Institutions be made for faculty development and research.
  • Degree courses under Science faculty be initiated.
  • There is a need of courses like Computer Applications, Animation and Graphics, Multimedia, Web technology and on areas related to regional and local need to widen the employability of students.
  • Coaching for NET\SET and recruitment tests on regular basis be commenced.
  • Augmentation in ICT, library and sport resources is required.
  • Faculty be encouraged to go for membership of different bodies.
  • The college be opt for autonomous status.
